Timpi is starting 2023 with a Bang! We are thrilled to announce that we are releasing our Closed Beta Web Search in partnership with Flux on January 23rd 8PM EST (Jan 24th 4AM UTC).
Yes, you heard that right, in less than 3 days, 500 lucky community members will have the chance to test Timpi. The world’s first decentralized web search engine. We have been working on this for the better part of 2022 and our excitement level is over the roof. We can’t wait for you to try it!
This first beta phase is the first in many phases in Q1 and Q2. With it, we are on track for our Public Beta Launch in July of this year. The Public Beta launch will see Timpi open to the public. It will be during this time that we aim to exceed Bing’s index size! A feat beyond our wildest imaginations when we embarked on this journey. What will we be testing?
It is important to note that this first closed beta version of the web search will be purely focused on functionality. This phase will help us fine-tune the algorithm and the functions our web search offers. We will not be testing the search results themselves, nor their accuracy and relevance; this will also come in later phases. The UX design will also not be ready for this release, so the basic design will be a place holder used to test the backend functions.
Hosting Timpi Web Search on Flux
You may remember that back in March of 2022, we partnered with Flux. Flux is the new generation of scalable decentralized cloud infrastructure. Since then, our relationship has gone from strength to strength, and we are thrilled that we will host our search engine on Flux. As a decentralized web search engine, it is important that we collaborate and support other revolutionary and decentralized projects in the web3 space. Together with Flux, we are building a more evolved, decentralized internet, bringing our shared passion for a more open web to life. Through Flux, Timpi will have access to cutting-edge technology. Timeframe
Beta testing opens on the 23rd of January and closes on the 20th of March 2023.
How can you become a beta tester?
We have 500 places available for this closed beta. The application to be a beta tester is now open. You can apply via our Discord channel using the command
/signup_search
Can you sign up in any other way?
At this point, we only accept applications via our Discord channel. However, we are planning to open form applications later this year.
What do you need to do as a beta tester?
As a tester we ask that you test the functionality of our decentralized search engine and give us your feedback on Discord. Once you are selected to participate you will be added to a discord channel on our main channel. Here you will be able to share your experiences, what you liked/disliked and report bugs. This will give us invaluable information to improve the beta product. We will NOT ask you to give feedback on the design, as this version will be blank and the UX design will be coming later this year.
